Brief History of the Study Program
Faculty of Agriculture was established on August 17, 1962 which is the 7th faculty at Hasanuddin University with 3 (three) majors, namely: Agriculture Company Department, Agricultural Engineering Department, and Agricultural Extension Department
In 1988, the department registered with the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) was adjusted so that the Department of Agricultural and Agricultural Extension was merged into the Department of Agricultural Economics.
At first the Agribusiness Study Programs / Programs had 4 (four) study programs, namely: Agrosystem Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural extension, and Family Welfare Science.
Furthermore, in 1994, the study program at the Agricultural Socio-Economic Department changed its name from the Agricultural Socio-Economic Study Program to the Agricultural Socio-Economic / Agribusiness Study Program.

Mission
- Organizing learning in the field of agribusiness with maritime character with quality materials, methods and facilities
- Find, develop and preserve leading science and technology in the field of agribusiness based on local and globally oriented
- Producing constructive information services, consultation and advocacy services.
Aims
- Increased Bachelor of Agriculture graduates in the field of maritime and glocal oriented agribusiness who act as managers of agribusiness, agribusiness entrepreneurs, researchers and consultants of agribusiness, agricultural extension and community empowerment and agricultural development planners.
- Increased discovery and development of science and technology in the field of agribusiness based on local and globally oriented
- Increased information services, agribusiness consultation and facilitation that are locally based and globally oriented
